How to Buy Cashews Online in Sri Lanka: What to Check Before You Order
You can't taste it first, so check the details
In a shop you can see the nuts, smell them and ask the person behind the counter. Online, all you have is a photo and a product page. That's fine, as long as you know what to look for. Here are the checks worth making before you order kaju online.
1. Whole nuts or pieces
Whole cashews cost more than broken pieces and splits, so a low price often means pieces. Pieces are a perfectly good buy for cooking, but if you want to snack or gift, make sure the listing says whole nuts. Our kaju price guide explains how this changes the price.
2. Compare the price per kilo
A small pack always looks cheaper than a big one. Convert everything to a price per kilo before you compare shops. Our cashew price guide shows every item per kilo, pulled live from the shop.
3. Know exactly what's in the pack
Raw, roasted, salted, spiced and burnt cashews are very different products. A good product page tells you which one you're buying. If it doesn't, or the photo and the description don't match, ask before you pay.
4. Ask how fresh they are
Roasted cashews taste best soon after roasting, and old stock can taste stale or oily. We roast in small batches to order, which is one way to keep them fresh. Once you have them, keep them airtight and away from heat using our storage guide.
5. Check delivery before you check out
Look at how long delivery takes and what it costs, and make sure that's shown before you commit. On our site, all deliveries take 5-7 business days to anywhere in Sri Lanka, and the exact fee shows in your cart. You can also collect from our pickup point in Kalutara after placing an order online. The details are on our shipping page.
6. Understand payment and returns
Find out how you pay before you fill a cart. We accept bank transfer or cash on delivery or pickup, and we don't take online card payments. For returns, food items usually can't be sent back once delivered, so the useful question is what happens if something arrives damaged or wrong. With us, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with a photo and we'll arrange a replacement or refund. Read our returns policy and FAQ for the full picture.
7. Make sure you can reach a real person
The easiest sign of a trustworthy online shop is that you can actually get an answer. Look for a working contact page or WhatsApp number and a clear way to ask about bulk or gifting orders. If you're buying for an event, our bulk orders page has no minimum quantity.
